Your child learns Spanish by living with our family.

HOME FAMILY LANGUAGE is not a language school or an agency. It's REAL IMMERSION.

A real family in Tenerife opening their home so your child can experience Spanish from the inside.

Patricia, Fran, and their two teenage daughters welcome students from all over Europe into their home in Tenerife for a language immersion unlike anything you've seen before.

Total immersion

Your child speaks Spanish from the very first breakfast. No classrooms. No textbooks. Just real life inside a Spanish family.

Only 1 or 2 students

That's it. Each stay is personal, intimate, and designed so that Spanish takes up the entire space.

Complete supervision and guardianship

Patricia and Fran are responsible for your child's well-being throughout their entire stay. Always.

Measurable results

In 2 weeks of immersion, our students progress more than in 6 months at a language academy. They say so themselves. And so do their parents.

Tenerife 365 days a year

Sunshine, volcanic nature, European safety standards, and Canarian gastronomy. The best environment in the world to learn by living.

Our home

A spacious home full of comforts, different leisure areas, open spaces, a swimming pool, and just five minutes from the beach.

Sending your child abroad to learn a language is a big decision.

Language schools abroad work well in theory. But in practice, students stay with other foreigners, speak their own language during their free time, and return home with the same level they had when they arrived.

Agency programs are expensive, impersonal, and in many cases, the promised "family environment" is more like a shared flat with other students than a real family welcoming you as one of their own.

And as a parent, you're left wondering:

Will they be okay? Will they actually learn? Are they in good hands?

What if there were a program where your child lived inside a real Spanish family,

with teenagers their own age, on one of the safest and sunniest islands in the world?

That is exactly Home Family Language.

We are Patricia and Fran.

We live in Tenerife with our two teenage daughters and have been hosting young people from all over Europe in our home since 2018.

We don't design a program and then look for families to run it. We are the program. Our dining table, our conversations, our weekend plans... all of that is the most effective Spanish lesson in the world.

How the immersion works

Why living with a family teaches more than any language course

Real security, not just promised. Your child sleeps in our house. Eats with us. Goes out with us. They are not in a residence or with a paid caretaker. They are with a family that chose this vocation because we care about the young people entrusted to us.

Spanish from the very first breakfast. From the moment your child sits at the table on day one, everything is in Spanish. There is no "class time" and "free time in your language." The language is the environment, 24/7. Our total immersion methodology ensures more progress in 2 weeks than in 6 months at a language academy.

Our teenage daughters are part of the method. The Spanish spoken by young people in Tenerife—the Spanish of high schools, social media, and WhatsApp groups—is learned with our daughters. You can't learn that Spanish in any academy.

Weekly report for parents. Every week you receive a summary of your child's linguistic progress and well-being. You are always informed, without having to ask.

Real activities, not tourist traps. The local market, a traditional guachinche, Mount Teide, Las Teresitas beach... Tenerife is the largest classroom in the world, and every outing provides vocabulary in context that won't be forgotten. On Saturdays, the whole family goes out to eat. Always together. That is also part of the program.

An experience that leaves a mark. Students who have stayed in our home don't remember "the language course in Tenerife." They remember Patricia, Fran, the girls, the day we cooked together, the afternoon at Mount Teide, the first time they dreamed in Spanish. No other program can offer that.

Your child arrives. We take care of the rest.

STEP 1

First free consultation

Before booking, we talk. Via video call or WhatsApp. We want to get to know your child and we want you to get to know us. If it's a good fit, we move forward. If it's not the right time, we will tell you honestly.

STEP 2

We design the program together

Duration, linguistic goals, preferred activities, dietary restrictions, Spanish level... Each stay is tailored. We don't have a single "package": we build the experience that fits your child.

STEP 3

Your child arrives in Tenerife

We pick them up at the airport. We show them the house. We prepare our first dinner together. From the very first moment, only Spanish. From the very first moment, a real family.

STEP 4

You receive reports. Your child progresses.

Every week we send you a brief report on your child's linguistic progress and well-being. You can talk to them every day during their free time. And we are always available for any questions.

What families are saying.

"Our daughter came back happy, more confident speaking Spanish, and delighted with Patricia and her family. They gave us a lot of confidence from the very first moment."

— Karen M., Manchester.

"The experience was excellent. Communication with the family was very warm, and everything was perfectly organized. We would undoubtedly repeat it."

— Sophie T., Lyon

"An authentic, human experience, perfectly designed for teenagers. You can tell there is genuine care and structure behind everything."

Claire B., Brussels

"What convinced us most was that there are already teenagers in the house. My daughter wasn't going to be with adults pretending to be a family; she was going to be with girls her own age. The difference was huge for her comfort level and learning."

Thomas K. (Father), Munich

"I arrived knowing almost no Spanish. By the third week, I was dreaming in Spanish. Fran took me to the market on the first day, and I learned more vocabulary in two hours than in a year of classes."

Lukas, 16 years old, Brussels

Ready for your child to take the leap?

Places sell out months in advance.

If your child is between 12 and 25 years old and you want this year to be different—for them to come home actually speaking Spanish—the first step is a conversation. Free, with no obligation and no pressure. We just want to meet you.

This is our home

The perfect space for a total language immersion.

The house is located in Candelaria, in a privileged location: just a 5-minute walk from the beach, 30 minutes from the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and perfectly connected to the island's main points of interest. In addition, there is a bus stop (public transport) just a 1-minute walk away.

Your space. Inside our family.

Your room is yours: clean, comfortable, with a desk, wardrobe, natural light, and access to a bathroom. It is not a hotel room. It is the room we prepared for you, thinking about what you need to feel good away from home.

  • Single room with a desk, wardrobe, and natural light
  • Access to a private or shared bathroom (exclusively for the student)
  • High-speed Wi-Fi
  • European power adapter available
  • Clean bedding, towels, and a welcome kit
  • Living room, kitchen, and terrace shared with the family

The best classroom in the world has Mount Teide in the background.

Tenerife is not just the destination. It's part of the method.

Our island.

The classroom isn't just at home because our home is the whole island. The climate (20–25°C all year round), the safety, the cultural diversity, and the unique nature of the island make students want to go out and explore, and exploring in Spanish is the most effective linguistic exercise there is.

  • Mediterranean climate all year round: 20–25°C on average
  • Safe island, European infrastructure, high-quality public and private healthcare
  • Unique volcanic nature: Mount Teide, Los Gigantes, Anaga
  • Canarian gastronomy: papas arrugadas, mojo sauce, fresh fish, gofio
  • Efficient public transport throughout the island
  • A 4-hour flight from most European capitals

Message from Patricia and Fran:

We've spent a lifetime in Tenerife—Fran arrived from Asturias over thirty years ago and never left. We have built our family, our network of friends, and our pace of life here. And a few years ago we made a decision that changed something in us: we started welcoming young people from other countries who wanted to learn Spanish by living with a real Spanish family.

What surprised us the most wasn't the students' linguistic progress, which was spectacular. It was what they left with us: the curiosity of a fresh perspective on our island, our way of eating, speaking, and living. Every student has given us as much as we have given them.

Our daughters grew up seeing that the world can fit around a kitchen table if you know how to listen. And that, in itself, is already an education.

Warmly, Patricia and Fran ♡ - Home Family Language

FAQ / We answer your questions

How does the registration process work?

It’s very simple and there’s no obligation. First, write to us via WhatsApp or email telling us about your child and the dates you're interested in. If there’s availability, we’ll organize a free video call to meet—we want to see if there’s a real connection before confirming anything. If everything fits, we’ll send you the contract, formalize the reservation, and your child’s spot is secured. The entire process can be completed in 48 hours.

What documentation does my child need to come?

For stays of up to 90 days, your child needs a valid passport or ID and travel health insurance with coverage in Spain (European Health Insurance Card or a private policy). We can provide an official invitation letter if needed for a visa. For longer stays, documentation varies based on the student's nationality and goals—we can discuss this directly and guide you through each case.

What is life like at home?

Natural, close-knit, and in Spanish from the very first moment. Your child participates in the family's daily life: having breakfast and dinner with us, helping with small household chores, going out with the girls, and sharing our family space in a real way. There isn’t a "coexistence" schedule: coexistence is all day long. That is exactly what makes Spanish progress so fast.

What activities and excursions are included in the program?

The program includes cultural and leisure activities integrated into daily life: visits to local markets, excursions around the island, Canarian cooking, hiking, beaches... Some are included in the price, and others are offered as paid options. If your child is interested in something specific not in our regular offer—nautical activities, a specific visit, a different experience—we’ll look into it and provide a quote with no obligation. The goal is for the stay to be exactly what they need.

How is payment handled?

To confirm the spot, we ask for a 20% deposit of the total amount via bank transfer. The remaining 80% is paid upon arrival, using the payment method agreed upon in the contract. There are no commissions or hidden costs: the agreed price is the final price. The deposit is refundable if canceled more than 30 days in advance—the full conditions are in the contract we send before formalizing anything.

What is included in the meals?

For students aged 12 to 25, the program includes full board: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and an afternoon snack. We cook real Spanish and Canarian food—no school menus or catering here. We adapt the menu to any allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions you communicate in advance. If there’s an important restriction, tell us from the beginning: we take your child’s safe and healthy eating very seriously.

Is my child supervised at all times?

Yes. Patricia and Fran act as legal guardians for minors during the entire stay—what is legally known as "in loco parentis". We never leave a minor without adult supervision outside our residential area. The level of autonomy during outings is adapted to the student's age and maturity, always agreed upon and with constant communication. If anything happens—no matter how small—we inform you immediately.

How long is the program and what is the minimum duration?

The minimum stay is one week, although we recommend at least two weeks so the linguistic progress is visible and measurable. The typical duration is two months—enough for a real transformation of Spanish level. We offer programs up to a maximum of six months. If you have something different in mind, talk to us: we adapt whenever possible.

Do you have references from other families?

Yes. You can read real testimonials on our Google page and on our website.

If you want to speak directly with a family that has already experienced the program, let Patricia know—with their consent, we connect families who have been where you are now. Nothing gives more confidence than talking to someone who has already lived it.

What happens if my child doesn't adapt or feels unwell?

In our experience, all students go through an adaptation phase during the first 2-3 days. Patricia has extensive experience supporting this transition with patience and care. If at any point the minor needs specific attention, we immediately communicate with the parents and decide together.

Your child’s spot is here and now.

We only have one house. We only admit one or two students. And dates sell out months in advance.
