Our family

We are Patricia and Fran. We are Patricia and Fran. We live in Tenerife with our two teenage daughters and have been hosting young people from all over Europe in our home here since 2018. We are not a company with associated host families or a language school with an after-school program. We are a real family who one day understood something important: the best way to learn a language is to live it with the people who speak it.
Ever since that first student, who arrived without even knowing how to ask for a glass of water in Spanish and left three weeks later dreaming in Spanish, something changed in us. This is not just what we do. It's who we are. And when a young person walks through our door, they stop being a student and become, for the duration of their stay, just another member of the family.

The parents
Patricia is the heart of the program. The first thing she does when a new student arrives—before showing them their room, before explaining anything—is give them a hug. That sets the tone for everything else. She is a great communicator, replies to parents in less than 24 hours, and has the ability to make anyone—no matter where they come from—feel at home in five minutes.
Parents who have been here always say the same thing when saying goodbye: "We were so lucky to find this family."
Fran arrived in Tenerife from Asturias over thirty years ago and never found a reason to leave—the weather, he says, explains it all. He is the one who keeps the house running: he cooks, organizes, and keeps things in order. And when we go out, he is the one who chooses the restaurant. Methodical, organized, and with a sense of humor that disarms any teenager in three days. Students quickly discover that if they want to have fun, Fran is their guy.
Our mission
To offer each student a stay where they feel safe, loved, and completely immersed in everyday Spanish. And to offer every parent the peace of mind of knowing their child is in the best possible hands: not those of a paid coordinator, but of a family who chose this vocation because the young people entrusted to us truly matter.
Our vision
A world where young people don't learn languages to pass an exam, but to truly connect with people from other cultures. We believe family immersion is the most human, effective, and transformative way to learn a language. And that Tenerife, with its climate, its open character, and its mix of cultures, is the perfect place for that to happen.

The girls
Martina and Virginia are the most powerful differentiating element of the program. No language school can offer what they do: a real, peer-to-peer conversation between teenagers. They speak good English—enough so that no one feels completely lost on the first day—but at home, the rule is Spanish, and they stick to it.
Martina is quieter, the kind who wins you over slowly and forever.
Virginia wins everyone over from the very first moment. Students who arrive feeling anxious usually leave with two new friends.
9 moments that define us
The first student
He arrived not knowing how to ask for a glass of water. He left three weeks later speaking Spanish in his dreams. That’s when we understood this was more than just a program.
Only Spanish at the table
The day we made Spanish the rule at every meal, progress multiplied. That single decision changed everything.
Our daughters as the method
When we saw that students learned more vocabulary in one afternoon with our daughters than in a week of exercises, we decided they should participate in everything together. Since then, Martina and Virginia have been an essential part of the program.
The first German family
They wrote to us from Hamburg full of anxiety. When they came to pick up their child three weeks later, they told us: "It's the best decision we've made in a long time." That day we understood who we were really helping.
Only 1 or 2 students
We refuse to accept more. Not because we can't, but because the quality of the immersion depends on each student being the sole protagonist. That decision made us unique.
The weekly report to parents
We started sending a weekly summary of each student's progress. Parents received it before even asking. Trust multiplied.
Tenerife as a classroom
We discovered that every outing on the island was a masterclass in contextual vocabulary. The market, the guachinche, Mount Teide. Learning by living, not by sitting down.
Legal guardianship
We formalized the program with all the necessary documentation. Contract, medical forms, emergency protocols. Because doing it right doesn't just mean speaking well: it means having everything in writing.
Home Family Language
We put a name to what we already were. Not an agency. Not an academy. A family with open doors for anyone who truly wants to learn Spanish by living it from the inside.
